The 42nd annual Denare Beach Winter Festival runs through next week. Recreation Director Mel Durette says they are going ahead with a few events highlighted by the Walleye Fishing Derby. She explains it’s going to be a seven day fishing derby from February 15th to the 21st. First prize is a thousand dollars, second prize is six hundred, third prize is four hundred and then they got two donations, Ruby’s donated an ice auger and T&D Cabins donated a kids prize for the biggest fish by a kid under 15 and Ruby’s prize will go for the biggest Pike caught for the ice auger and a fishing package.
Durette adds they will also have an ice sculpture contest and some events at the Youth Center.
