Northern Issues Were Under Discussion Yesterday Afternoon.

Twenty members of the Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce met on Zoom yesterday afternoon with the President of Manitoba Chambers Chuck Davidson.  Davidson reported he continues to advocate on behalf of local Chambers by holding virtual meetings with them and passing their information on during meetings with a variety of government ministers such as convincing them to drop the essentials only list in the north to re-open businesses while COVID numbers were high only in eastern part of the region and pushing to split the northern health region along highway six for restrictions.  He says the north health region is bigger than the rest of the province’s regions combined and you can’t necessarily lump them together that if you have an outbreak in the far northeast it doesn’t impact Flin Flon, it doesn’t impact Snow Lake and caseloads have been low enough that we can justify that and he thinks they will continue to push that.

Other issues Davidson added are the importance of people supporting businesses by shopping locally as they recover from COVID and the need for significant investment in digital infrastructure in the north.
