Saskatchewan is Preparing for The Next Phase of their Vaccination Program.

Saskatchewan health reported 80 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the seven day average of daily new cases to 203. They also announced five additional deaths spread across the various zones.  Health Minister Paul Merriman outlined phase two of their vaccination program. He explained age is the number one factor in determining severe outcome from cases of COVID-19 so their mass vaccination will be done by age starting with their oldest residents first.  He noted right now they’re in phase one which includes everyone over the age of 70 so in phase two they’ll be vaccinating people over 60, then people over 50 and so on until everybody that wants to be vaccinated can be.

Clinically extremely vulnerable adults will also be included a priority in Phase 2. Phase two could get underway as early as April depending on supplies.

Of the new cases 34 are in Saskatoon and North West 13 with single digits in all other zones including Far North East with seven.  Of the total 25,654 reported cases 2026 are considered active and 23,282 individuals have recovered.
