Northern Health Region CEO Helga Bryant says the public needs to pay attention to COVID-19 public health orders.

Bryant says the surge in cases is because people gathered over the holidays despite public health orders advising against it.

She acknowledges many people may feel worn out by the pandemic noting she knows that everyone of us wherever we work wherever we live is wearying of COVID and COVID fatigue is really setting in for all of us and she’s saying that as a citizen of northern Manitoba not necessarily as her role as CEO but she thinks all of us as public are wearying of this as it’s been a long long road.  She adds the vaccine is not a panacea, we must remain vigilant in our behaviour and on our travelling about and following those orders continues to be critically important.

Bryant goes on to say while the vaccine signals the beginning of the end it’s not the end in and of itself.
