Reported COVID-19 Cases in Manitoba Have Topped Twelve Thousand.

Manitoba Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin reported this afternoon 399 new cases of COVID-19 with a test positivity rate of 14.2 percent.  He also reported eleven additional deaths with five in the Winnipeg region, three in Southern Health, two in Interlake Eastern and one in Prairie Mountain Health region.  The new cases include 239 in Winnipeg region and 40 in Northern Health.  Total confirmed cases have reached 12,007 with 7385 active, 4432 individuals have recovered and 249 are in hospital with 40 in intensive care.  Roussin issued a warning about prank calls noting he has been made aware that someone is making calls to various businesses claiming they are him and telling them they must close due to public health orders and he certainly is not calling businesses and telling them anything of this nature.

             

Roussin noted a specific fine of 298 dollars is being put in place for not wearing a mask in indoor public places.
