A Case of COVID-19 Has Been Located in BothThe Pas and Snow Lake Areas.

The Opaskwayak Cree Nation Incident Command Team issued a statement Monday that they were informed by Public Health Officials there was a positive case of COVID 19 in the OCN, The Pas, and RM District of The Northern Health Region.

Public health nurses and staff of the Opaskwayak Health Authority have already conducted extensive contact tracing and monitoring and the incident command team has been preparing for such an event since the onset of the pandemic.

Work is being done to contain the case and people are encouraged to self monitor for symptoms and to continue to take proper COVID safety measures.

 

Meanwhile a positive case of COVID-19 was indentified in Snow Lake at the Strilkiwski Camp and the person is now isolating at home in Thompson.  Contact tracing and identification of individuals affected by being in contact with this person has been completed and those individuals have been sent home to isolate as a precaution and Public Health says the risk to the general population of Snow Lake is low. The Camp has been sanitized and cleaned and will be inspected by Public Health so it is safe to occupy.
