Manitoba Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin announced the death this afternoon. It’s a man in his 40s from the Winkler district in the Southern Health Region and was a previously announced case with underlying medical conditions. He reported 173 new cases of the virus have been identified bringing the total number of cases to 3,098 and there are six new cases in the Interlake Eastern, three in Northern Health Region, 8 cases in Prairie Mountain Health, 23 cases in Southern Health and 133 cases in Winnipeg.
Roussin noted there are five cases reported in the Thompson YWCA and the facility has been moved to the critical level under the Manitoba Pandemic Response System.
Of the total 3,098 reported cases 1527 are considered active, 1533 people have recovered and 25 people are in hospital with five in intensive care. He advised statistics on the spread indicate we have to reduce the number of contacts we have outside of our households.
