City Council Meeting From October the 7th

Flin Flon City Council held their regular meeting last night at council chambers at City Hall.

 

Council recognized a couple of notices including the cities by-election that will be taking place on October the 28th.  Gatlin Church, Carrie Hume, Barry Kreller, Angela Simpson and Tom Therien will be looking to be elected for one city councillor position from November of 2020 to November of 2022.

 

The Council of the City of Flin Flon will also sit as a board of revision  to hear applications for revision on Tuesday November the 17th , 7 pm from Council Chambers.

 

Sue Chrisp and Della Chilson represented the Flin Flon Curling Club and were questioning their water bill and water service and pointed out they haven’t been using the facility since mid March.  They are also looking for the city to make a decision as to when they can start their season. These matters have been turned over to the Social and Rec Committee.

 

Councillor Tim Babcock made a resolution that the members of council are required to follow a code of conduct that has been layed out from the province of Manitoba.

 

Councillor Colleen Arnold also acknowledged the Flin Flon Arts Council for their efforts putting together Culture Days. With all the stipulations from Covid 19, council wants to thank them for their dedication and are very proud of what they continue to do for Flin Flon and Northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

 

Letters were also received from Sheldon Wielenga who wants to have his curb removed on Windsor Avenue and the Salvation Army who are looking to operate their upcoming Christmas Kettle campaign. These matters will be turned over to the proper committee’s.
