COVID-19 Case Numbers Continue to Grow in Winnipeg While Saskatchewan Also Prepares for the Flu Season.

Manitoba Public Health reported this afternoon 24 new cases of COVID-19 in the province.  20 of these cases are in the Winnipeg Health Region and two each in the Interlake Eastern and Southern Health Regions.  Total cases reported are at 1632 with 380 active, 1234 individuals have recovered and eight are in hospital with two in intensive care.  In Winnipeg there are now 20 confirmed cases in the John Pritchard School cluster and one at College Louis Riel and two are linked to Maplewood Manor in Southern Health.          

              

Saskatchewan Health reported ten new cases this afternoon with six in Saskatoon, two in Regina and one each in the Far East and Central West zones. Of the 1,824 reported cases 146 are considered active, 1,654 people have recovered and nine are in hospital. Two of the new cases reported in the Saskatoon area are associated with the workplace outbreak previously identified at Brandt Industries.

                As well with influenza season around the corner the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health has purchased 36.5 percent more vaccine than last year to meet the anticipated increase in demand with residents 65 and over receiving the high dose vaccine at no cost in personal care and long term care homes starting in mid-October.
