At their 22nd annual meeting Thursday night Board President Doreen Roman reported another successful year at the Women’s Resource Centre and with the Safe Haven. She thanked the dedicated staff and all Board members for their support and expertise. Programs and events over the year included support groups, public education, counseling, Domestic Violence Prevention Month, Candle Vigil, Take Back the Night, the Red Dress Project including youth again this year, International Women’s Week and several Fun Raising events.
Board members were returned by acclamation including Jason Kuras and Margaret Head Steppan for three years, Sheri Pearson, Mark Lucas and Doreen Roman for two years and Linda Eryou and new member Sophia Charuk for one year. Katie Kawerski who has one year left on the Board was elected President, Mark Lucas Vice-President, Sophia Charuk Secretary and the Treasures position is open. Long time Board and Executive member Shelly Craig was recognized for her years of service as she leaves the Board.
