Flin Flon City Council Continues to Push for New Pool Funding and Input on Travel Restrictions.

At their meeting Tuesday night Council received a letter from Joy Tetlock resigning as Chair of the Aqua Centre Fund Raising Committee due to her work and personal commitments.  In her letter she noted the importance of the water safety programs the pool offers.  Mayor Cal Huntley thanked her for work on the committee.  He said he and Council have been approached by people with the same feelings that the pool is an important facility calling it an essential service.  He said they have a project that is ready to go but there is a delay in announcing grants from the provincial and federal governments as they deal with COVID-19.  He added they submitted a good proposal and looks forward to good news about the grants and moving forward as soon as funding is approved.

Huntley also stated there are a lot of questions to be answered by the province on the re-introduction of travel restrictions to the north.  He said there should be more consultation with northern communities before this type of decision is made and they will be meeting with ministers to educate them on the north and the effect travel restrictions have on our businesses.
