Several recreation and community facilities in the northern area will be upgraded thanks to funding from the Manitoba government’s Community Places Program North.

              Included in the grant approvals is 25 thousand dollars to the Cranberry Portage Heritage Museum Corporation for phase two of the museum building restoration and 48 thousand to the Town of Snow Lake for arena roof repairs. Three grants are going to the Opaskwayak Cree Nation, 33 thousand dollars for renovations at the Gordon Lathlin Memorial Center Arena, just under 21 thousand for the Big Eddy youth center renovations and just under 6 thousand for OCN youth center renovations.
