Premier Brian Pallister has announced an increase in the matching program for scholarships and bursaries for this year only.  He explained they are going to be matching all funds raised by universities and colleges for that bursary initiative dollar for dollar.  He said their program previously was one dollar of grant support for each two dollars raised outside.  He noted they realize that this year it is a challenge for post secondary institutions anytime to raise money for scholarships and bursaries and with the economy in the present state it’s in they expect these challenges will not be less.

Pallister adds this commits the government to 15 million dollars for this program which is a fifty percent increase in what they had budgeted earlier.
