Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister paid tribute to senior citizens and their contribution to our province. He announced a program to show their appreciation for our seniors. He explained this is a 45 million dollar program which will offer direct support for all Manitoba seniors to help lessen their financial burdens caused by COVID-19. He noted as part of the Manitoba Protection Plan the Seniors Economic Resources Credit will deliver a 200 dollar one time refundable tax credit to Manitoba Seniors facing additional costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pallister adds the Department of Finance will be mailing a payment cheque this month as a credit advance to each senior 65 or older who filed a 2018 income tax form prior to April 1st this year.
