NDP Transport Critic Niki Ashton has called on the federal government to implement measures to support workers in the transportation industry deemed essential during the COVID-19 pandemic.  She says workers including taxi drivers and truckers need government support and equipment to cope with the economic downturn and the higher risk to their health amid this crisis.  She notes people need to have access to reliable transportation even amid this pandemic adding the trucking industry is delivering medical equipment, food and necessities in this critical time so the government must support drivers who are working around the clock along with people who have to be in self isolation or are laid off.
