The Northern Health Region is Well Prepared to handle COVID-19.

The CEO of the Northern Health Region Helga Bryant says there are no cases of COVID-19 in the health region yet.  She says they are prepared to admit or transfer patients if the need arises and that will be a critical assessment whether they need to be transferred out, they would follow processes around that consulting with Winnipeg depending on the clinical presentation and they are prepared to admit patients if that is required.  She notes the Northern Health Region is very well positioned to support however COVID unfolds and they’ve been preparing for weeks, in fact they’ve been preparing for years and there is a pandemic plan and she wants to assure you that they’ve got this and they feel very prepared and actually honored to be able to support the north during this time.

Byrant adds they do have ventilators available in northern hospitals and are closely following directions being presented by Manitoba’s Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin.
