The Flin Flon Credit Union has started a small grants program. Manager Kory Eastman explains it’s intended for community groups or individuals who may be looking at trying to promote some sort of initiative or bring some economic development into the area. He says it’s a small grants program so it’s modest in nature with the maximum grant being 25 hundred dollars but they do have 10 thousand dollars available this year. He adds applicants must demonstrate how their initiative would achieve one or more of the following: either achieve a degree of improvement in the local economy, generate high quality long term employment, provide services or goods not currently available in the region or just create new opportunities in the area for local strength and skills training so you can cover a vast array of areas and this is the first year for the grant program so there is a bit of wiggle room for the committee.
