Plans are Underway for an Annual Summer Pride Event.

At their meeting Tuesday night City Council received a request from the Flin Flon Pride Committee to declare the week of August 14th to 21st as the fourth annual Flin Flon Pride Week. It will begin with a rainbow flag raising at City Hall at 5 pm on the 14th followed by events at the Community Hall from 6 to 11.  Saturday will be for the Drag Queen Mermaid from 7 to 12 at the Community Hall and Sunday the Pride March at 1 from Green Street near CFAR to the Rotary Wheel where there will be a community barbeque. They also plan to repaint their rainbow crosswalk near the Royal Bank in June.                                        

             

In other business Council passed a resolution officially accepting the resignation of Councillor Guy Rideout for personal reasons.  It also authorizes Senior Election Official Katy Anderson to proceed with a by-election.  No date has been set but it is expected to be sometime in May.

             

And Council thanked Treasurer Lynn Brown for her years of service not only to the city but to the community as well as she moves to a new job in Saskatoon.
