A Variety of Letters Supporting a New Pool Were Part of Tuesdays Flin Flon City Council Meeting.

The executive of the Flin Flon Creighton Aqua Doves Artistic Swimming Club outlined their successes due to having the Aqua Centre which is now closed.  They strongly encourage all levels of government that govern our community and the surrounding communities that use our infrastructure to support the development of a new facility within a timely fashion.  This was echoed by Barb Link with her families concerns so we northerners have this major facility in our community.  Letters from grades one and two students at McIsaac School added their voices to the need for a new pool.  Three people attending the budget meeting that night raised concerns about the city being able to cover the operating costs for a new pool once Hudbay closes its Flin Flon operations. Councillors stated they are confident Flin Flon will continue to be here and major recreation facilities like the pool are needed to attract people to our community.

The city is waiting for approval of a grant from the Canada Manitoba Infrastructure Program for the new pool.
