Managing Partner for Placemakers in Canada Hazel Borys is in Flin Flon as part of the Arts Council’s Inspiration Series titled Developing a Northern Vision.  She told the Chamber of Commerce yesterday economic development is about combining existing assets with new ideas to create new values and as Flin Flon moves to whatever is next consultations within the community are essential to come up with ideas on connections to create a more diversified set of industrial markets here that make the community more resilient over time so we’re not dependent  on  just one entity that we potentially create more opportunities whether it’s eco-tourism, whether it’s promoting and widening the reach of the rich cultural offering that Flin Flon currently has or whether it’s welcoming some completely new economies that don’t exist here now.

Borys said one step is looking for what place or ideas might provide the inspiration for what’s next in Flin Flon.
