The Journey for Hope walk held in Winnipeg supports the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society and its free programs and services. Flin Flon’s Ray Berg is now visiting businesses and will be going door to door in our community to collect pledges to support the walk done by Katrina Tinman the Society’s Special Events Administrator. He says last year he gained 6358 dollars but last year was different because he used index cards that explained how people can make donations online and that gained an extra 700 dollars. He adds this year he has business cards also and he’s passing those out and he’ll have a donation table set up at the Co-op on different days and people can donate there.
Berg has raised well over 16 thousand dollars over the past four years noting anyone pledging 20 dollars or more will receive a tax receipt after the walk. The Journey for Hope takes place Saturday, September 21st starting at the Forks in Winnipeg.
