The Flin Flon Public Library was open on Saturdays during March and April. It was a trial run with the results to be used to plan future hours. Administrator Courtney Campbell says it went great as they were seeing a lot of different people that have been asking to come in and they made a really concerted effort to show up on the Saturdays instead of the other days to prove that it was worth it for them. She says she crunched a couple of numbers and their total circulations were up by about a thousand compared to last year over those two months so that just means that they have more books going out. She adds now she’ll take these numbers she has crunched to the Board and then they’ll find a way to work within the budget that they’ve already got ready to try make this happen again for the winter of 2019-20.
Campbell says the support from the community was great and they now have some numbers to work with in making a decision on future Saturday openings.
