At the request of the Womens Resource Center Mayor Cal Huntley officially declared November as Domestic Violence Prevention Month at Tuesday nights City Council meeting. The proclamation stated domestic violence affects everyone – children, youth, individuals, families and the community and has immediate and long term consequences that can include serious mental and physical effects, the inability to function in society, financial turmoil and death.
Council was advised the Community Alcohol Management Plan Working Group is being formed in Flin Flon. It’s a group of over 30 people representing an expanding list of local organizations. Council will look forward to more information as the group continues to organize.
And Council received a request to again allow the Rotary Club to use City Hall as headquarters for Operation Red Nose, a service that helps get vehicles and their owners home safely during the holiday season. The service will run on Friday and Saturday nights starting November 30th running through December including Friday the 28th and New Years eve.
