The NorMan Jazz Festival will be hosted by Flin Flon School Division this weekend.  Band Director Kim Jones says bands from The Pas and Thompson will join Flin Flon bands with a total of 80 students taking part.  She explains they fly clinicians in from Brandon and Winnipeg and these are very high level educators, university professors who work with their students throughout Saturday and Sunday to help them work on their existing jazz band repertoire and help them in improvisation and give them information on their specific instrument like saxophones, trumpet, trombone and rhythm section.

 Jones adds on Sunday the students will put on a concert at 1:30 at Hapnot Collegiate with all community members invited to attend.  She says you will not only hear the student bands perform but also very high level jazz musicians from across the province playing traditional jazz as well as a couple of players from the Dirty Catfish Brass Band who will be here as clinicians.
