Health Care in the North Was Raised in the Manitoba Legislature.

Flin Flon MLA Tom Lindsey in his reply to the Throne Speech questioned the Pallister government’s commitment to northern health care.  He asked how about the wait times that you would need to get in to see a doctor in northern Manitoba, how does three months just to get to see a doctor at the clinic and why is that?  He says it would appear there’s been some sort of cut in the number of doctors that are now available in Flin Flon.   Lindsey says there used to be five now there are three and apparently that meets some magic formula that they have that complies with their budget.

Lindsey also noted the shortage of nurse practitioners and also questioned what will be cut by the government next with 6 million dollars to come out of the Northern Health Region budget.

We’ll have more from his speech in tomorrow’s news.
