The Manitoba government is investing 12 million dollars for municipal roads this year. Out of that total the City of Flin Flon is receiving 100 thousand dollars. Municipal Administrator Mark Kolt says the government has been providing grants for a number of years and the money is used for road resurfacing and other road repairs within the City.
The Municipal Road Improvement Program was developed in partnership with the Association of Manitoba Municipalities and provides 50-50 cost shared funding for municipal road projects including the cost of new road construction and road renewal projects to extend the useful life of a road. A total of 188 projects were approved this year in 99 municipalities.
