The search continues for missing northern trapper

Last Thursday Thompson RCMP and employees from Sustainable Development Manitoba conducted a land search of the area surrounding Paint Lake. With the snow melted and still no new information in relation to the December 2016 disappearance of 67 year old Campbell Hunter, searchers combed the landscape for any sign of the missing man. Two teams walked different locations and then a helicopter picked them up to take them to the start of their next search location.

The Office of the Fire Commissioner participated in the search with the use of a cadaver dog, a dog specially trained to assist searchers in looking for remains.

Thompson RCMP Sgt. Ben Sewell says “we did not find Mr. Hunter, but I still count this search as a success. We have cleared an area. We can move onto other areas now.

The investigation continues, and community groups, including people from Hunter’s home community of Nelson House, continue to work with police and conduct searches.
