The Relay for Life is coming up September 9th. The Committee’s Margot Gray says this year it will be held at Queen’s Park near Hapnot Collegiate with different hours. She explains even though the premise when the Relay for Life started was to do it from 6 to 6 because cancer never sleeps so we won’t either, it was getting harder to get volunteers and teams not just for us but for a lot of communities, so a lot have gone to the noon to midnight so they decided to follow suit as well. She says they will still have the evening time so they won’t lose out on the luminaries which is a big part of it and the memorial tribute up on the screen with the ambience of the evening and the luminaries will still be there because it’s a very big part of it.
The Relay for Life has participants collect pledges and walk over the 12 hours to raise money and awareness for the Canadian Cancer Society.
