The Spotlight Will Be on Speeders This Week.

The Flin Flon Citizens on Patrol Program is promoting Spotlight on Speed Week all this week During the week the COPP volunteers are operating a speed reader board provided by Manitoba Public Insurance at different locations to raise awareness of posted speed limits in our community and as a reminder about the dangers of driving over the posted speed limit or too fast for road and weather conditions. Data collected will be shared with local law enforcement to help inform their speed enforcement efforts. They report in Flin Flon on average 14 to 17 percent of motorists are driving over the posted maximum speed limit and in some areas it’s as high as 27 percent.

COPP volunteers contributed 14 thousand patrol hours and over 22 thousand volunteer hours to the program last year alone.  If you’re interested in joining or learning more about the local Citizens on Patrol Program contact Sinclair James at 271-4881 or email ffcopp@hotmail.com.
