The Women’s Resource Center is holding a Jail N Bail fund raising event during the Leisure Show Thursday through Saturday. The Center’s Colleen Arnold explains it begins with participants putting in a request to put themselves in or have their boss, their spouse, a politician, a friend or a co-worker arrested and then the mock police officers arrest the jailbird and their whisked off to jail which is at the Sportex during the Leisure Show. She says the jailbirds do have to agree to this and then they have to receive pledges to get themselves out.
Arnold adds last year they raised just under two thousand dollars. Arrest forms are available by contacting the Women’s Resource Center. All bail donations of 20 dollars or more will receive a tax receipt with all proceeds going to the operation of the Safe Haven which is an emergency shelter for abused women and their children.
