It May Soon Cost You More to Ignore a Barricade.

At their meeting last night Flin Flon City Council gave first reading to a bylaw to set fines for ignoring a barricade, detour or road closed sign.  The first offence will cost 200 dollars, the second 300 and the third 500 dollars.  They also gave first reading to a bylaw setting a fine preventing the long term storage of vehicles on city streets over the winter at 100 dollars plus towing costs.

Council passed the Fire Chiefs report for March indicating five incidents including one fire, a false alarm and three medical assistance calls.

Council thanked Dana Dadson who has retired from the cemetery maintenance contract he has held since 2007 for all the excellent work he has done for the city.

Council wished the Bombers well in their series with the Nipawin Hawks.  Mayor Cal Huntley has a special interest in the series in that he has a bet with the Mayor of Nipawin Rennie Harper. The Mayor of the losing team’s community will buy the other Mayor supper while wearing the winning team’s jersey.
