Improvements in Ore Grades and Facilities are expected By Hudbay This Year.

In their 4th quarter financial results we reported on on Friday Hudbay President Alan Hair also gave an update on their Manitoba operations including Flin Flon’s Triple Seven Mine. He says ore production at their Manitoba mines during the fourth quarter was in line with the previous quarter. Overall copper and zinc grades were lower due to lower grades at Triple Seven and Reed, however in 2017 higher zinc grades are expected at Triple Seven as a result of the resequencing of the mine plan to prioritize stopes containing higher zinc grades which is expected to result in improved overall economics per tonne at Triple Seven.

Hair added at Lalor near Snow Lake technical work is underway on a new mine plan to increase throughput from the mine and associated milling facilities. He reports construction of the Lalor paste backfill plant is underway and they expect to complete the majority of the work before the end of the year which will reduce operating costs, increase mining rates and maximize ore recovery.
