A Local Neighborhood Improvement program is Waiting for Word on Their Funding.

The Flin Flon Neighborhood Revitalization Corporation’s Laurence Gillespie says the funding they receive from the Neighborhoods Alive program has been put on hold by the provincial government.  He says they are now in uncertain times.  He explains normally their funding is renewed April 1st of each year but now this time they’re going to have to wait for the new provincial budget which should be coming down sometime in April to see whether they’ll be able to proceed or not.  He says normally they do up very heavily in the spring to launch their fix up programs and their small grant programs for the coming year but at this point they’re going to have to sit tight until they get indications that those programs will be continued under the current provincial government or not.

Gillespie adds if you think the programs are important to the community now is the time to urge the government to continue to support Neighborhood Revitalization programs.
