Northern Issues Will Be Raised as Parliament Resumes.

With the recent announcement of Tolko Industries closing in The Pas Churchill Keewatinook Aski Member of Parliament Niki Ashton says she will be looking for solutions.  Ashton says she will be calling on the federal government for help.  She says she’ll be back in Parliament September 19th and this is going to be top of mind.  She explains sitting in Parliament they’re all in the same room so you can head straight over and there’s no where for anybody to go so she’ll be heading directly to key ministers in person to say we reached out to you but this is now the time to act.

Ashton says we have a valuable resource with some of the best harvesting territory in the country.  She adds she has spoken with employees of Tolko, The Pas town council and the Opaskwayak Cree Nation about continuing to find solutions for our area.
