At approximately 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon Flin Flon RCMP entered into an investigation of an assault. During the investigation they received information that the accused was in possession of a firearm and had made threats to use the firearm to harm himself or others. Public access to a section of South Hudson Street was blocked off for about 15 hours. Flin Flon RCMP were assisted by Creighton Detachment and various D Division support units with the Emergency Response Team and negotiators in securing the cooperation of the accused.
At approximately 9:50 yesterday morning the suspect voluntarily left the residence and was arrested without incident. A Flin Flon man has been charged with assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. A court date is still being determined and the investigation continues.
