The City is Making Improvements While Holding the Mill Rate.

The City of Flin Flon’s financial plan for the year was presented at a public meeting last night.  The total budget is just over 13.4 million dollars compared to 13.38 million actually spent last year.  The mill rate is set at 44.38 for residential property the same as last year and 54.88 for commercial down 1.11 mills.  The special services levy is set at $616.54 a three percent increase with business taxes increasing from 3.75 to 5 percent.

Some of the larger expenditures are for upgrading the heating plant, lift stations, water treatment plant, the city garage, city hall roof, sidewalks and curbs and their clean and green city beautification project is budgeted for 85 thousand dollars this year. Finance Chair Colleen McKee says they are looking for grants for this project as well and have set up an email address cleanandgreen@flinflon.ca so residents can share ideas and volunteer to be part of the project.
