Do Plastic Bags Have a Future in Flin Flon.

At last night’s City Council meeting Councilor Karen MacKinnon stated many communities have banned the use of plastic bags from businesses in their communities.  She says she has heard complaints from people about the bags, has seen them blowing all over at the landfill and suggested Council take a look at banning the use of these bags in our community at a future meeting.

Council passed on final reading a bylaw to establish an animal control panel made up of three members of Council. It will deal with complaint about dangerous dogs including the fate of dogs that have bitten someone.

The city is looking at developing a dog park as a result of numerous requests from residents. They have budgeted 20 thousand dollars for the project.  Mayor Cal Huntley says this is one way to keep dogs in one area and will make it easier for owners who should be responsible for their dogs to do so.  They are still looking for a location for the dog park.
