This is Emergency Preparedness Week.  A member of the local area Red Cross Emergency Preparedness Team Jean Champagne says their message is are you ready.  He asks are you ready to face a home fire for instance, are you prepared and is your family prepared, do you have a plan, do you know where to go?  He says they want to convey the message to people to prepare themselves and their family if it’s a personal disaster and make sure their plan is recognized by their family.

Champagne says you need a plan if you have to leave your home and if you have to stay in your home you need a kit that will get you through 72 hours.  A lot more information can be found on their website www.redcross.ca where you can also volunteer to join their emergency preparedness team.
