Hudbay Faced Lower Ore Grades in Manitoba.

In the first quarter 2016 financial results Hudbay President Alan Hair reports increased ore but lower grades at their Manitoba operations.  He says total ore mined grew by 12 percent from the same period in 2015 as a result of increased production at their Lalor and Triple Seven mines.  He says the grades were lower in the first quarter of 2106 compared to the same quarter of last year in line with mine plan expectations with the exception of Lalor zinc grades which were lower due to stoke sequencing but are expected to improve throughout the balance of the year.  He adds ore processed in Manitoba was higher than the same period in 2015 as a result of increased production at Lalor offset by unscheduled maintenance at the Flin Flon mill during the quarter.

The unscheduled maintenance occurred when they had a breakdown of two pieces of equipment associated with the mill.  One was the crusher in Flin Flon and the other was a belt tear which took them off for eight days.  Hair says the shortfall will be made up over the balance of the year.
