Patients and Paramedics Will Benefit From New Ambulances.

The Manitoba Government has announced the purchase of 52 new replacement ambulances.  Northern Health Region Communications Coordinator Twyla Storey says four of those ambulances will come north to Flin Flon, The Pas, Easterville and Grand Rapids offering safety and comfort as the attendants can now be seating facing forward with the three point seatbelts and with additional controls that are now within easy reach.  She says as well components that are accessed more frequently have been moved.  She adds new to these ambulances is liquid suspension which provides a better ride quality for the patients over rough and gravel roads and an additional advantage with this suspension is that it allows the back of the ambulance to lower down so it makes it easier for the paramedic to load the stretcher.

Storey says the new ambulances are expected to be in service by the end of the year.
