Burning Permits Have Been Cancelled in Northwest Manitoba.

Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship advises that dry, windy conditions in northwest Manitoba have led to the cancellation of all burning permits in the region north of Flin Flon and Sherridon, south to Grand Rapids, west to the Saskatchewan border and east to highway 6.

In addition, campfires will not be allowed between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in Bakers Narrows, Wekusko Falls, Grass River and Clearwater Lake provincial parks.

Currently, crews are working to contain fires near the communities of Cormorant and Sherridon in northern Manitoba.

A fire near Cormorant (northwest of The Pas) between Clearwater Lake and Cormorant Lake, is approximately 150 hectares and close to roads and the railway
A fire near Sherridon, located northeast of Flin Flon, is just north of the community and is approximately 500 hectares.
