Members of the United Steelworkers Local 7106 held a strike mandate vote this week. Union President Tom Davie reports they had an 85 percent turnout with 91.5 percent in favor of a strike mandate which will assist their negotiating team. He says they have meetings scheduled for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with the Company. He says this gives them better leverage at the table knowing that their membership is strongly behind the proposal that they presented some time ago.
Davie adds he’s very happy with the turnout and the percent didn’t surprise him as right from the start their membership has been behind them and this shows the Company they’re ready to bargain.
