This is Fraud Prevention Month. In an effort to protect you from fraudulent claims and common rip-offs Commissioner of Competition John Pecman says the Little Black Book of Scams is an easy to use reference guide that was developed to recognize report and stop fraud. He explains the Competition Bureau wants you to be an informed and confident consumer, that’s what Fraud Prevention Month is all about. He says avoid becoming a victim of fraud by protecting your identity at all times, never sharing banking information over the phone and never sending money to anyone you don’t know or trust, and remember preventing fraud is a shared responsibility so when you see it report it.
Pecman adds to learn more about how to protect yourself or to report a scam, enter fraud prevention month in your web browser.
