You Should Be Wearing Purple Tomorrow.

Tomorrow is International Wear Purple Day to raise awareness about epilepsy.  Local Epilepsy Awareness Ambassador Melissa Danis who has epilepsy along with her two children says the day started in 2008 when a nine year old girl named Cassidy Megan from Nova Scotia was motivated by her own struggle with epilepsy.  She found nobody knew what it was and it was just kind of scary to everybody and she wanted to shed some light on it and just raise awareness so it’s not a fund raising effort, it’s just an awareness effort.

Danis adds students at McIsaac and Ruth Betts Schools are holding special events tomorrow to mark purple day with information being provided on epilepsy and she would also like to start a local epilepsy alliance support group.
