The RCMP Trained in Cold Conditions Last Week.

Twelve members of the Northern Manitoba RCMP entered the icy waters of Paint Lake near Thompson in minus fifteen degree weather last Thursday and Friday. The officers were instructed in how to save yourself if you fall through the ice and safely rescuing others. They entered the water to practice the techniques they learned in the classroom.  Some entered the water wearing everyday clothing to gain the experience and understanding of what is required in a rescue.

Each officer is now a certified Ice Rescue Technician and the RCMP have 35 of these Technicians in the province with the majority posted in northern Manitoba.
