Students Are Increasing Their Skills.

Premier Greg Selinger officially opened the new Skills Training Center at Hapnot Collegiate yesterday afternoon.  He explained the idea behind skills programs is that young people can get an academic education and they can get a set of skills that allow them to make good wages and get good jobs right out of high school.  He says they’ll be able to do things like carpentry, plumbing and other trades that will give them a good solid foundation for the future and that is what their vision is for schools in Manitoba.

Hapnot Principal Brent Bedford says students are already using the new space which will create opportunities to take courses in a variety of trades.  Also attending the opening were students, Hapnot’s shop teacher Colin Davis and MLA Clarence Pettersen.
