Some Adults Can Receive Free Driving Training

Premier Greg Selinger announced at the opening of the Skills Training Center in Flin Flon yesterday a new partnership between the Manitoba Government and Manitoba Public Insurance will expand adult driver education training in the north free of charge for low income and unemployed adults to help them get access to job opportunities.  He says they know that a lot of times job opportunities take a bit of a trip to get there and a driver’s licence will make it that much easier to do that.  He says if you can drive and you’ve got a trade and an academic education you’ve got a passport to the future, there’s no wrong doors, every opportunity will be available to you and you can grow in a direction you want to grow in with many choices.

The new program will be incorporated into existing job readiness training already underway in Flin Flon, The Pas and Thompson with classes starting November 26th including 16 hours of in class instruction and eight hours of in car instruction with a professionally trained instructor.
