Flin Flon Has a New Mayor

Only 35.4 percent of eligible voters turned out at the polls yesterday to elect a new Mayor and one new City Councillor and to re-elect five City Councillors.

             

Elected Mayor was Cal Huntley with 630 votes defeating current Mayor George Fontaine with 626 votes a difference of only 4 votes.  The third candidate Robin James received 54 votes.

               

The six candidates elected to Council were current Councillors Tim Babcock with 1025 votes, Colleen McKee 1013, Ken Pawlachuk 928, Karen MacKinnon 898, Bill Hanson 898, newcomer Leslie Beck 941 and the seventh candidate Tom Davie 867.

             

Those elected were for four year terms.
