Are You Recycling Your Dry Cell Batteries?

The Flin Flon Recycling Center continues to partner with Call 2 Recycle Canada to make recycling of used dry cell batteries easy in our community.  Call 2 Recycle spokesperson Orysia Boytchuk says recent studies indicate that you can find over 100 batteries in the average Canadian household.  She explains Call2Recycle Canada is funded by over 200 product manufacturers who don’t want to see their batteries end up in land fills.  She says it works noting since their inception they’ve diverted over 7.8 million kilograms of batteries.  Boytchuk adds for over 17 years they’ve been collecting and managing the recycling of batteries and they’re also the official battery recycling program for the provinces of Manitoba, British Columbia and Quebec.

Your rechargeable and single use batteries can be dropped off with your other recycling at the Recycling Center.  You’re asked to put them in a sealed bag so they can be easily located in your recycling.
