Safety Needs to be a Priority for All Bikers

The RCMP are reminding parents to talk about bike safety with their kids before they go riding.

Lisa Wowchuck with the RCMP in Thompson says helmets need to be worn properly.  She explains your helmet should sit snugly on your head and when the helmet is on top of your head you should have a two finger space from underneath the top part of the helmet to your eyebrows and the strap should form a proper V over your ears and with the strap under your chin you should be able to fit one finger underneath the strap. Other tips include wearing bright colors while biking, and to look both ways before crossing the street. Wowchuck suggests making eye contact with drivers so they know you're there.
